Absolutely smitten.

Something really marvelous happened in Atlanta last night. It was the kind of thing you hear about and immediately rearrange your schedule so that you, too, can partake in the festivities. Deb. Perelman. Came. To. Atlanta. Yes, Deb as in the brains and brilliance behind Smitten Kitchen. And she spoke! And she signed my cook book! And she suffered at the hands of Atlanta traffic like the rest of us!
Now, if you've been following along at home, I've chronicled several of Deb's recipes here on my blog. No, really. Let's talk about it.

Pink Lady Cake
Peanut Butter Brownies
Peach Creme Fraiche Pie
Tiramisu Cake
Cinnamon Toast French Toast

...to name a few. And let's just say I only post maybe a tenth of her recipes I actually make (that's about 50 recipes, minimum, according to math). I think over the years, I've tried maybe five different Smitten cheesecakes along with dishes like tarragon chicken salad, brisket, chicken milanese, rotisserie chicken, pulled bbq, crispy black bean tacos with feta slaw, homemade pizza, pulled chicken tacos, etc. etc. etc.

Bottom line: she's my favorite. And her book signing was not a disappointment in the least. As the first two to arrive (I'm not kidding), my dear friend Morgan and I began talking to people as they showed up. The two hours we waited (see? that's not so crazy) were spent discussing favorite recipes with other Smitten loyalists who have, like myself, tried countless different dishes over the last 5+ years.

It was so much fun being with a community of people who share common interests, and to top it all off I ran into my friend Galen! So thank you, Deb, for treating your people of Atlanta to a lovely evening!
