DIY: Placemats

I've been looking for new placemats for a while now, but have been very Goldilocks about every option I come across ("these are too uncomfortable on my elbows (which shouldn't be on the table anyway, oops)," "those are too big," "these ones aren't the right color"). Meanwhile, the leftover fabric from our bench cushion sat idly by in a window sill. Now that I finally have a sewing machine, I decided to put said fabric to use and make six placemats to match the cushion cover. They didn't take too long to make and in total cost less than $10. Now I just need a permanent centerpiece for our table...

{Cut and pin fabric}

{Sew together, leaving a small opening, and turn inside out}

{Iron flat and sew around the edges}

{Finished product}

{Six placemats, matching bench and lack of centerpiece}

  1. I think you've already used your machine more than I have, and I've had mine for two years now...
