Catching Up

After nearly a year of Etsy idleness (really, where has the time gone?), I have slowly but surely begun to update my shop. As it turns out, working a full-time job is, well, full-time, leaving little time for much else. Is it so much to ask for just one weekend free of all other engagements to do nothing but sew and bead and all my favorite things? Luckily for me, this last weekend was such. Behold: seven new items in my shop. Enjoy!

Anthropologie Lust

I’ll be the first to admit I’m a sucker for all things Anthropologie – from dishes to dresses and everything in between – but find it hard to justify spending the better part of my paycheck on anything lining their shelves. And while I generally stick to a rule of only buying sale items, browsing is always free so I find myself frequenting their stores on a regular basis looking for inspiration. My most recent encounter came with this necklace. It’s a relatively simple design that was easy to recreate in my favorite summer-friendly colors and cost under $8 to make (and I have leftover beads!).

*P.S. Let's be real - my necklaces aren’t that organized. It was a nice thought, though.

Red Wall Woes

Since moving into the new apartment, few unfinished to-do’s have nagged at me quite like this giant, empty red wall in our dining room (and it doesn't help that I'm not the biggest fan of the color red). I first toyed with the idea of artwork, but alas it would have to be oversized to not look sparse on the wall. Wispy floral garland of some sort also came to mind, but hanging anything from a 12+ foot ceiling seemed daunting. Finally, I set out to create something that didn’t need to be framed, wasn’t hazardous to hang and was large enough to look at home on the wall. Inspiration in the form of this and this, one piece of plywood, seven old t-shirts, and ten fingers sore from weaving later and I’m happy with the finished product.
